Empower Ireland was established by Dr Maurice Fenton in 2009 to support and advocate for and with young people preparing to leave care and those that had moved into aftercare. Maurice has worked in residential care since 1991 having started his career as a volunteer in a children’s home. He has worked in the statutory, voluntary and private sectors and has worked at all levels, from trainee to director, in social care, predominately within the residential child care and aftercare sectors.
Empower Ireland operates on a not-for-profit basis and only collaborates with businesses or organisations that operate within a conscious business model whereby reasonable profit may be achieved but not at the expense of people.
